Rachel Rothman, RMT
Rachel is a remedial massage therapist and founder of Prana Holistic Massage Therapy. She won the award for Best Clinical Practitioner in Massage at Wellpark College of Natural Therapies, as well as the Massage New Zealand Top Student Award in 2015. In 2019, she won Wellpark’s Academic Excellence Award.
Working in an intense corporate environment, Rachel saw clearly how stress can wreak havoc on people – physically, mentally and emotionally – leading to an array of health issues. This set off a personal journey through the Pacific, Southeast Asia, Nepal and Tibet, then to a move from Los Angeles to New Zealand in 2005.
In taking responsibility for her own wellbeing, Rachel developed a keen interest in natural health and body therapies. Her desire to be part of the solution to the epidemic of chronic stress has grown into a whole body approach to treating ailments, whether physical or emotional. Regular massage therapy can help people reach optimal levels of wellbeing. Rachel's practice is also tailored to treat another widespread cause of ill health – poor posture. This can lead to a cascade of muscle imbalances, which develop into chronic pain and dysfunction. Rachel's greatest inspiration is the transformation that comes from addressing the root causes of these imbalances.
When she's not offering massage at the Prana studio, Rachel enjoys yoga practice, hiking and beaching in the beautiful New Zealand nature, going on family bike rides with her husband and two daughters, organic gardening and getting regular massage as part of her own wellness maintenance.
